Paneer Paratha For "Paneer - a delicacy" Event

Photobucket Paratha is our all time favourite and we make different types of parathas. One of them is paneer paratha which is my husband's favourite. Whenever we bring paneer means only paratha will be made :). Paneer is not my liking so dont use it much. Therefore lots of paneer recipes are left to try. Today I am posting my version of paneer paratha :).

Ingredients: Sufficient For Two People

For Dough
3 Cups whole wheat flour
1/2 Tsp salt
1 Tsp oil
Warm water for kneading

For Stuffing
200gm paneer/cottage cheese grated
1 Medium sized onion chopped finely
2 Green chili chopped finely
1/2 Tsp cumin seeds
2 Tbsp coriander leaves chopped finely
1/2 Tsp garam masala
A pinch of turmeric powder
Salt as per taste
Oil to fry parathas

Method: Make a soft dough using warm water. Keep it aside for half and hour. Meanwhile prepare stuffing mixture. I fry paneer before stuffing as we dont like raw smell of paneer. People who dont want to fry paneer can mix all the ingredients and make parathas.

To fry heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add cumin seeds. Once they start spluttering add onion and fry another 2-3 min. To this add garam masala, chili, coriander leaves and a pinch of turmeric. Fry for another one min. Finally add paneer to this and fry for another 2 min around. Now mixture is ready, let it cool before stuffing.
Divide all the flour into eual sized balls. Roll out a circle of about 3" in diameter. Place 1.5 tsp paneer mixture in the middle and gently seal it. Roll out into a circle of 7-8" diameter. Heat a griddle and cook this paratha from both sides untill brown in color. Repeat the same with other dough balls. Now paneer paratha is ready to eat :), serve with curd, pickle or any chutney you like.

This is my entry for Vandana's "Paneer - a delicacy" event.

Hey these parathas look simply awesome, whenever i make paneer parathas, the paneer always peeps out of the roti layer,so the things get bit messy while rolling out them, but they do taste wonderful. My son loves to eat them with mango murba
